Black Friday is just around the corner and you know what that means – deals! Let’s take a quick look at the newest cannabinoid to hit the store shelves, HHC. Although not very well-known, you can already find some fun recreational items like vape carts, disposables, edibles, and tinctures. Continue reading to learn more about this compound, how it works, what the benefits are, and where you find these exciting products. As always, the best Black Friday on HHC products are reserved for the subscribers of The THC Weekly newsletter, so make sure to SUBSCRIBE today and save big on Delta 8, Delta 9 THC, Delta-10 THC, THCO, THCV, THCP & HHC products. What is HHC?Honestly, the available information on HHC, scientifically known as 9-Nor-9β-hydroxyhexahydrocannabinol, is extremely limited and somewhat contradicting. Let’s start with whether it’s natural or synthetic: well, it can be both. There is a biologically active naturally occuring (−)-hexahydrocannabinol, as well as its synthetic enantiomer (+)-hexahydrocannabinol. As the name suggests (Hexahydrocannabinol vs Tetrahydrocannabinol), HHC has many similarities to THC. Simply put, HHC is a simplified version of Delta 9 THC without any double bonds. With HHC, all the double bonds have been broken and replaced with hydrogen (AKA hydrogenation). Both HHC and D9 have very similar molecular structures and comparable effects. It was discovered during research in the 1960s and 70s which aimed to find the most basic cannabinoid-like substances that could still bind to CB receptors. Kyle Ray, Chief Operating Officer at Colorado Chromatography Labs, says his company recently filed a process patent for the development of Hemp derived Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC). According to Ray, “Cannabis indica was collected from five different localities of Pakistan and analyzed for medicinally active compounds by GC-MS. The biologically active chemical compounds amongst the naturally occurring cannabinoids are delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) which were present in all samples in high percentage. The highest percentage of THC present was 23.84% and that of CBD was 54.48%.” He added that, “Other cannabinoids quantified were: delta 9-tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV), cannabivarin (CBV), cannabichromene (CBC), cannabipinol (CBP), cannabigerol (CBG), hexahydrocannabinol (HHC), and cannabinol (CBN). The main objective of the study was to investigate biologically active compounds of Cannabis sp. from various localities.” HHC and drug testingWhen it comes to cannabis, standard urine tests are common for detecting use ranging from roughly 1 to 45 days. Occasional users will typically be clean after 1-5 days, regular light users will take about 1-3 weeks, and for heavy daily users, expect 4 to 6 weeks to get clean. Contrary to popular belief, standard urine tests don’t screen for the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) in cannabis, but rather, they detect the metabolites created by the human body when we are exposed to THC. This class of metabolites is known as THC-COOH. These metabolites are nonactive, so drug tests are only measuring exposure, NOT impairment. Marijuana impairment cannot be detected through any kind of test thus far. THC-COOH, or “carboxy THC” is the most common name for this metabolite. It’s the second THC-metabolite formed in our bodies, following hydroxy-THC, immediately after exposure. THC-COOH is lipid-soluble, meaning it’s stored in our fat cells making it detectable in our systems for much longer than other substances, those that are water soluble for example. Since HHC and Delta-9 THC don’t share the exact same structure, HHC might not show up on drug tests, which makes it very attractive for some audiences. However, as this theory never been tested, it’s better to be safe than sorry… So don’t use HHC carts if you need to pass a drug test anytime soon. HHC Products Available for Black Friday 2021Despite being relatively new to the cannabis scene, HHC is steadily becoming one of the more popular alt cannabinoids in the consumer sector. That said, there aren’t really that many HHC products available, nor is there a lot of research or data to determine effects or whether it’s safe or not. It’s assumed to be generally safe, as all naturally-derived cannabis compounds are. But since most of these minor cannabinoids only exist in trace amounts in the plants, they are often converted from other cannabinoids, like CBD, therefore, it’s no longer hemp-derived HHC, it is synthetic HHC. With so many new products, brands, and companies on the market, it’s hard to know exactly which products have true, lasting quality and potential, as opposed to the low budget passing fads. If you’re willing to experiment a bit and test some stuff out, there are quite a few options as far as recreational HHC products. Companies like Binoids, Delta Extrax, Barely Legal Hemp, and many others are already trying to corner this market with HHC vape carts, disposables, tinctures, and gummies. Many users describe HHC as feeling very similar to Delta 9 THC but more uplifting, floaty, and euphoric. Overall, it has been well-received by most in the community and industry. Black Friday. The day of elderly women hitting each other over the heads for plasma screen TVs and men getting into fights in order to ensure they purchase the last toaster oven on the shelf. The day of cheap stuff and amazing deals is coming. It’s close, so if you’re in the US, or wanting to benefit from some American online shopping, then this day is the day for you. However, what kinds of cannabis products should you be looking out for? Plus, what’s the newest, hottest and most exciting products in the cannabis world at the moment? As you’ll be aware, the world of weed is evolving everyday, with THC and CBD being a thing of the past. Nowadays, it’s all about THCP; the new cannabinoid that is taking the world by storm. Today we’ll be delving into what this substance is and where to buy it on Black Friday. As always, the best Black Friday on HHC products are reserved for the subscribers of The THC Weekly newsletter, so make sure to SUBSCRIBE today and save big on Delta 8, Delta 9 THC, Delta-10 THC, THCO, THCV, THCP & HHC products. What is Black Friday?First of all, before we begin looking into the mad science of cannabinoids, let’s first understand what black friday is for any of you not living in the US or for those of you in the US but living under rocks. However, the truth is, black friday has caught on and now exists in many countries. But It originated in America, and exists because it’s the Friday after thanksgiving and many people see it as an unofficial holiday. “Because many people are off work, shops drop prices – historically for one day only – to start the Christmas season. UK shops have since caught on to this trend and it was brought across the pond over a decade ago. Between 2010 and 2013, Black Friday gradually built up momentum in the UK. In 2014, Black Friday became the peak pre-Christmas online sales day and many online retailers haven’t looked back since.” This year black friday commences on Friday 26th November and people will be queuing for miles to get the cheapest items. So, if you’re interested in knowing which THCP products are worth purchasing this friday, then read on. THCPNow, the question you might be wondering is: what is THCP? If you know this already then feel free to skip this section and check out which products to buy down below, however, you might learn a thing or two. THCP is a newly found cannabinoid within the cannabis plant. There are supposedly around 400 compounds within cannabis, around 100 of these being referred to as ‘cannabinoids’. Cannabinoids are the properties of the plant that essentially give it its identity; its aromas and effects. The two most spoken about cannabinoids are THC and CBD, and are the ones where the other more recent ones have originated from. CBDCBD is a cannabinoid within cannabis that is not psychoactive. This means, it does not alter the stage of one’s mind. Therefore, CBD is not really known for its mind-boggling effects. In fact, CBD may be thought to have none. However, for those people that understand it a little better, know that CBD has been known to help a lot in the medical sphere. Here are some of the positive effects of CBD. It helps with:
THCTHC, on the other hand, is a psychoactive substance. This means that it does have mind-altering effects, and it is these effects that are usually referred to as the well-known ‘high’ that recreational cannabis offers. This often means that THC has some problems with legality in certain countries. However, in America and certain countries in Europe, it’s completely legal. Here are some of the enjoyable effects that THC gives people:
More About THCPAs more countries around the world have opened their arms to cannabis – both medically and recreationally – more research has been done into newer cannabinoids. That is why the world is now talking about substances like: THCP, CBDP, Delta-8 and Delta-9. So, what is it? Well THCP is… “…short for tetrahydrocannabinol and scientifically known as (-)-Trans-Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is a natural cannabinoid and analog of THC present in varieties of cannabis. It’s thought to be 33 times more active at cannabinoid 1 (CB1) receptors than THC, causing an intense and intoxicating euphoric high. THCP is more potent and strong than THC, which is why it’s filling a lot of people up with excitement. But how was it discovered? Well, in December 2019, the Scientific Reports website released an article entitled: “A novel phytocannabinoid isolated from Cannabis sativa L. with an in vivo cannabimimetic activity higher than Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol…”. This turned many heads in the cannabis industry. It’s now considered to be the most intriguing and fresh cannabinoid on the block. How THCP WorksTHCP works mostly like any other cannabinoids, however, there’s a slight difference that makes it essentially 30 times stronger than usual THC. In the 1980s, cannabis scientists stumbled upon a huge revelation. They discovered two brain receptors that responded specificity to the compounds found within the cannabis plant. These brain receptors are called CB1 and CB2. There are many of these receptors in the human body, and they are strongly activated by THC. “A number of naturally produced neurotransmitters, called endocannabinoids, also interact with CB1 and CB2 receptors.” The way that the cannabinoids within cannabis react with these receptors is through, what is called, their ‘side chain’. Each cannabinoid has a five-link side chain. It’s not until now that any natural occurring compound has been found to have more than a five-link side chain. THCP has been found to have a seven-link side chain, which is perhaps the main reason why the interaction with the CB1 and CB2 receptors are so prevalent and lead to strong effects. Where to Buy THCP Products? So, without a doubt, you’re excited. And you have every right to be. Black Friday is round the corner and THCP sounds like the most exciting cannabinoid to be discovered since THC. But where should you go to get the best THCP products next friday? The post Best THCP Products – Black Friday 2021 appeared first on CBD Testers. Via https://cbdtesters.co/2021/11/25/best-thcp-products/ Hemp was legalized by the 2018 US Farm Bill, but the hemp-derived CBD market was never officially set up and regulated. Now, with the FDA once again looking to bypass the topic, activists are getting involved to help move things along. Help make it happen by forcing Congress to do something. Read on to find out how. Hemp-derived products like CBD are not regulated, and this hurts smaller companies, and stalemates the use of CBD in nutritional supplement products. Hemp-derived compounds have grown in popularity, from delta-8 THC, to CBDV, to even delta-9 THC. These products are still available even without regulation, but buyers should know their brands and be aware of dangers. For interested users, we have an array of deals for hemp-derived compounds like CBD and delta-8 THC, so check out our stock, and learn the importance of hemp-derived compounds. Hemp and regulationThe 2018 US Farm Bill worked to undue some of the cannabis prohibition laws that were put into place in the early 1900s. It legalized the production of hemp for all purposes, using the following definition to define the plants in question and how they could be used: “The term `hemp‘ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.” This effectively removed hemp from the Controlled Substances list, and started what looks like a free-for-all market of hemp-derived CBD products. CBD, of course, is the cannabinoid found more prevalently in hemp plants, and with these new laws, it appeared that CBD was released to the masses for whatever they wanted. However, the Farm Bill made a very concrete statement. Though it legalized hemp, it did not change the authority that the Secretary of Health and Human Services, or Commissioner of Food and Drugs, has over issues that fall under the jurisdiction of FDA administration laws. What this means, is that though hemp was legalized for all purposes, the FDA still holds authority over hemp products if they’re used as food or medicine. Since the FDA oversees laws related to foods, dietary supplements, human and veterinary drugs, and cosmetics, if a hemp product falls into one of these categories, it is regulated the same way. ![]() The FDA did go a little further as far as specifically regulating products in this category. In 2018, it started advancing hemp seed food products, as hemp seeds contain neither THC or CBD making them less controversial than the rest of the plant. However, it never did anything about hemp-derived CBD products, where things get a little more confusing. The FDA and why hemp-derived CBD isn’t regulatedYou see, according to the FDA, “It is unlawful under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) to introduce into interstate commerce a food (including any animal food or feed) to which has been added a substance that is an active ingredient in an approved drug product or a substance for which substantial clinical investigations have been instituted, and the existence of such investigations has been made public.” Prior to the Farm Bill, CBD wasn’t ever approved as a medication, which means this preceding specification wouldn’t apply. However, in that same year, (the timing of which might have been used to solidify this provision against CBD), the FDA approved the pharmaceutical medication Epidiolex for epilepsy, which contains CBD, thereby making it illegal to add CBD to other products as an ingredient, as it became the active ingredient in a pharmaceutical medication. However, the FDA doesn’t allow just anyone this ability to create medications with this compound. As of yet, three years later, the market has been kept entirely by big pharma, with no approvals for anyone else. Thus, the FDA is blocking smaller companies from legally producing hemp-derived CBD products, by maintaining it as a pharmaceutical medicine so it can’t be used as an added ingredient to other non-medicinal products. That’s some fancy footwork by the FDA. While it could be looked at as the FDA being careful, and looking out for people’s health, the whole idea of what’s happening entirely goes against this. A well studied natural compound is being kept at bay from the general population legally, by the FDA refusing to set up regulation measures for it. Having approved it for pharmaceutical products, it calls it a medicine, and therefore doesn’t allow its non-medicinal use, while only allowing big pharma companies the ability to create medicines with it. It legally stalemates the industry outside of pharmaceuticals, making a clear case for the idea that the US government is trying to help out big pharma by slowing down the regulation of CBD. Is there a plan for hemp-derived CBD to be regulated? It’s been three years since the Farm Bill was signed, and yet this ridiculous, nonsensical issue, still remains. In fact, for over three years, the government has been promising to do something, while not actually doing anything. To back up how little the government has actually cared, or invested into this issue, consider that this past month, the FDA finally made it clear it has no plans to further regulate the industry right now. ![]() Acting Commissioner Janet Woodcock, stated at a Consumer Healthcare Products Association event, that the current law was in fact clear, and acknowledged an impasse between the regulatory body, and any company seeking to use hemp-derived CBD in products. When directly asked by Scott Melville, president and CEO of the Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA), what could be done to speed things along, Woodcock answered, “I’m not sure… In my reading, the law is fairly clear about this, and so it puts us in a stalemate position. We also need additional data on the safety of lower doses and how that might be controlled, say, in the supplement market. How could you manage exposure of consumers?” Kind of sounds like it hasn’t even been discussed… In fact, Woodcock went as far as to try to pass the buck, stating, “I don’t know that it’s a matter of FDA policy. I think it may well be a matter of law.” Were we supposed to expect anything out of an agency that hasn’t even seen fit to take up its own responsibilities? If the FDA is confused about how to regulate things, then clearly there was never a plan to do so, and the last few years have just been lollygagging around, letting big pharma have the field. This same thing can be seen in countries like France, where the government actually took the EU to court in an effort to keep natural CBD illegal, while letting big pharma sell synthetic CBD legally. Luckily, France lost. Help get hemp-derived CBD regulated!Maybe the government is dragging its heels to help out big pharma, and maybe this is just an example of inefficient government offices. No matter the reason, it doesn’t work for the hemp-derived CBD industry to not have it regulated, and you can help get the job done. How? By forcing your lawmakers to do something. One of the interesting things about government (it should be obvious, but isn’t these days) is that if the people want something enough, and make it clear enough (without being confused or divided in the process), they can force their will on a government body, for one basic and undeniable reason: no one wants to lose their seat by not keeping constituents happy. This can be seen very well in a state like North Carolina, where republicans are pushing a medical cannabis bill, and outwardly stating that they understand they won’t keep their jobs if they go against constituent wishes. Funny enough Congress seems to understand this already, probably because their seats do depend on it, unlike Commissioner Woodcock, and the FDA. In 2021, both the House and Senate urged immediate action, directing the FDA to create formal policy that can be used until regulations are made. Of course, Congress has been trying to get the FDA to take action for years now. Considering the FDA had its first discussion over two years ago, and nothing happened yet, (except the Commissioner trying to pass the buck by denying legal jurisdiction), it stands to reason that the agency isn’t interested in following through. ![]() 31 US representatives (both democrats and republicans) are co-sponsoring HB 481 to regulate CBD as a dietary supplement, ending the stalemate. There is a House hearing for this issue expected this fall. The Senate is currently working through two bills – S 1698 and the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act, which would both legalize hemp extracts like CBD. Now, you can help the effort too! Use your voice. Use your power as an individual, which put together with many other individuals, can create enough power to change legislation. Go here, and tell your congressmen what you want. Tell them to regulate CBD now! This initiative is being led by Hempsupporter.com. ConclusionWithout intervention, it seems the FDA probably won’t do anything to change the current status of hemp-derived CBD, which means it won’t be regulated, and the only legal industry to have use, will be big pharma. Luckily, we can make a difference as individuals, and members of voting constituencies. Get on your activist boots, and tell your congressmen to regulate hemp-derived CBD now! Hello…! Via https://cbdtesters.co/2021/11/25/be-an-activist-help-get-hemp-derived-cbd-regulated-now/ Smoking weed is great, right? But it’s not for all places and all times, at least that’s what we’re told. And sometimes, it becomes a good idea to cover tracks and make sure nothing is smelled. There are several ways you can mask the smell of weed, from DIY concoctions, to standard deodorizers, to neutralizing products. There are lots of products on the market to help you mask the smell of weed. Whether its a neutralizing spray, odor-proof bags, or incense, you can make sure to get rid of that smell. The great thing about gummies and vapes is that these practices aren’t necessary as there is no smell to mask. We’ve got tons of great products from delta-8 THC, to hemp-derived delta-9, to THCV. Check out our deals, and figure out the best way to consume your cannabis, so you can keep it a private affair. For more articles like this one, make sure to subscribe to The THC Weekly Newsletter. Why hide?If you’re looking to smoke a secret joint in your church’s back room, or want to bust out some bong hits at your nephew’s birthday party, these are situations where you might not want everyone around to know what you’re doing. Maybe you’re staying at your parents and they’re super strict, or maybe your new boyfriend isn’t into dating a big smoker. Whatever the reason, whether you’re toking alone or with company, it’s best to know ways to cover your tracks. My most egregious pot-smoking was when I used to drive, and keep a one-hitter stowed in the compartment between the two front seats. I’m not telling anyone they should smoke while driving, I technically didn’t, saved the hits for when I reached my destination, and then put my car in park so I could grab a couple tokes before going into work, or my mom’s house, or whatever else I was dreading enough to require smoking up beforehand. I used to keep little bottles of perfume in my car, and I’d spray it down after smoking up. Sometimes I’d take a small lap around a block just to let the air through the windows. If I sprayed too much, my car smelled like a giant chemically-derived honeysuckle, and if too little, it smelled like a honeysuckle that was smoking a joint. And I, no doubt, trailed the scent with me, even if I wasn’t trying. ![]() Mask the smell of weed by covering it upFirst and foremost, you can handle your cannabis smell issue in the same way high school kids have been doing it for generations, and how I was doing it in my car. Just spray something over it. There’s a reason why incense and cannabis go together so well. If you’re sitting in your room getting high, getting in a quick hit in a bathroom, or found some corner to light up privately in, just have something to spray, or that will cover the smell. I used cheap perfumes because I was cheap, and that wasn’t necessarily the best solution. There are plenty of options when it comes to a spray deodorizer, and you can go full chemical, or naturally-based. The important aspect to this option is having a smell that can be used to mask the smell of weed. You can even get those little keychain spray holders to ensure that no matter where you are, you can squeeze out something fresh and non-cannabis scented. Perhaps the best bet for stationary smoking, is lighting a stick of incense, or using an infuser for essential oils. Patchouli oil and Nag Champa have been long-used methods of covering the smell of cannabis smoke. Other oils like lavender or mint are strong and can cover up many unwanted smells. You have the options of lighting a stick of incense, using a spray, an oil diffuser, candle, or even potpourri. Mask the smell of weed when travellingI used perfume to cover the smell of smoke in my car, but what about when you’re travelling with flowers, and want to make sure they don’t get you in trouble if you’re stopped? Whether you’re going by car or train or bus, having cannabis in these situations is generally illegal, and precautions should be taken. Once again, there is the option of using a spray to cover a smell, but there are newer and better ways to attack this problem. One of the newer inventions is bags and luggage that are smell proof. Everyone knowns you can Ziplock your stash, or put it into multiple plastic bags to mute the smell, but these remedies only last for so long before the smell seeps through. And they’re not powerful enough to get past dogs. There are companies now putting out plastic products that have a higher level of smell secrecy. Like the brand Smelly Proof, or the use of stash cans. Stash cans are containers that are usually airlocked, whereas plastic bags meant for storing do a similar thing, but in a standard – but stronger – plastic bag format. ![]() Yet another option is a brand like Absent Designs, which makes smell-proof bags for travelling, coming in a variety of sizes from basic purse size, to full on airline luggage size. This brand, and brands like it, use absorbent materials like charcoal to literally absorb the scent before it can go into the air. According to Absent, the bags are dog-proof, and can be reinvigorated by a quick trip to the dryer in order for it to release its absorbed material and make room for new. I bought a wallet-sized pouch, and didn’t have dogs to contend with, but when zipped in, I certainly can’t smell a single thing. Mask the smell of weed with cannabis neutralizersThere’s another way to do this, whether dealing with weed smoke, or the pungent smell of fresh flowers. And that’s to simply neutralize the smell. Now, this isn’t actually simple, but requires finding natural chemicals that can attach to cannabis particles in the air, and neutralize their scent. A couple companies are already putting out some pretty great products. The company NSNT (No Smell No Tell) puts out an odorless spray made of organic materials, and without added chemicals, that can literally take the smoke right out of the air, and without leaving any scent behind. I tested this out along with Cannabolish, a scented spray (I got Wintergreen, but Lavender is an option too) which also did great to immediately neutralize all smell of weed, utilizing natural components. Though both sprays can be used on all water-safe materials, I only used them in the air for my test on cannabis. I did, however, spray them both on old laundry to see what would happen, and found that their powers extended past weed-neutralizing usages. Cannabolish offers candles and gel as well as spray. While neither company went too far into the chemistry of how their products work, they both stipulated the use of natural components, and the absence of dangerous chemicals. In both cases, the explanation for neutralization came from the ability essential oil components have to attach to cannabis molecules thereby changing them, and the way they smell. Mask the smell of weed with DIY sprayIf you like the idea of neutralizing a smell without leaving heavy chemical scents in the air, but don’t feel like buying a conventional product, you can make your own at home. One of the best odor neutralizers is standard baking soda, which can be used from things like getting rid of the smell of cat urine to neutralizing cannabis smoke. Baking soda is a naturally alkaline substance that can neutralize acidic substances, which many smells are. It does this by changing the pH balance in the air. Baking soda can be used in different ways. It can be left on a material like carpet and then vacuumed off, or it can be mixed with water to create a sprayable mixture that can be used in the air. The addition of lemon adds a great scent to the room, while also giving an extra odor-eating kick. ![]() Here’s a great DIY recipe for making a baking soda spray to mask the smell of weed. This simple recipe can be put together by virtually any stoner who wants to create a spray to get rid of their weed smell. Just have some on standby for your smoke sessions to ensure you can control the smell of the room, even when smoking up.
ConclusionCovering up the smell of cannabis can be very important at times. It might even be the difference between sitting in a jail cell and being free. With the products and information listed above, you should be able to find the optimal way to mask the smell of weed for your specific purposes, and keep your smoking sessions completely private. What is Da Vinci?Da Vinci is a leading name in the dry herb vape field, offering premium dry herb vapes in a variety of designs, specializing in portable systems. Da Vinci has been around from the start of the vaporizer boom, opening operations in 2011. It named itself after the artist Da Vinci, who was a constant model for technology and innovation, and with this mindset the company has worked to provide advanced technology and engineering to create products that provide better vaping experiences for users. Da Vinci employs a range of technologies for better, cleaner, tastier vaping. It uses Clean First On specifically its IQ2 vaporizers, Da Vinci offers On-Device Dosage, a very cool technological enhancement that allows users to have the optimal temperature picked by the device. This is determined by the amount of herbs put in, the given THC amount for the strain of flowers used, as well as the CBD percentage, and what number bowl it is (1st, 2nd, 3rd…). This together allows users to select the perfect temperature to smoke and receive the most benefits from the flowers, based on the given information about the strength of the strain, the amount being used, and how smoked out it already is. Pretty high tech, eh? ![]() Some models also have Boost Mode (models: IQ2, IQC, and MIQRO), another cool attribute that allows for a large hit towards the end of a vape session, in which the vape is made to heat to its highest level to ensure you’ve gotten everything out of your bud. Along with this, the IQ series and MIQRO series employ Precision Temperature, which allows a temperature setting to be picked by the user, which the device will heat to precisely. Da Vinci has a vibration notification tool so that the user always knows when the vape is heated and ready to go. Yet another cool feature? The IQ2 and MIQRO series have something called a Zirconia Vapor Path. This cools down vapor as it leaves the chamber, for a more pleasurable, comfortable, and chilled vaping session. According to Da Vinci, its vapes cool vapor 50% more than other devices on the market, which is useful considering that vapes heat the flower up to 430°, and this Zirconia Vapor Path can bring it down to 154°. Da Vinci Thanksgiving saleThis year, Da Vinci isn’t going to make you scramble on Black Friday to get your perfect deal, it’s got it all ready for you for Thanksgiving instead, and will end halfway through Black Friday, giving you ample time to make your purchase. Da Vinci is providing an entire site-wide Thanksgiving day sale on each piece of merchandise in the amount of 20%. That’s not bad! Da Vinci has four main lines that are provided for sale. They include the following, with the following specific benefits:
![]()
Da Vinci vaporizers can be bought online, where this Thanksgiving day sale is taking place. They can also be bought at brick and mortar stores. Not every store selling vape equipment is created equally though, and Da Vinci includes a Store Finder on its site so prospective buyers can check out models in their closest location. Interested buyers who want to take advantage of the sale should purchase directly from the site. Dry herb vapesVapes are very much in the mainstream media these days, but this doesn’t necessarily have to do with dry herb vapes. There are three main kinds of vapes out right now, and different issues concerning them. Da Vinci puts out dry herb vapes. These vapes are battery powered premium portable vaporizers meant almost solely for the use of cannabis flowers, not concentrates or oils. Having said this, Da Vinci’s IQ2 Series does allow use with concentrates and dry herbs. Vape pens or vapes meant for oils and concentrates, are slightly different, employing a cartridge used for the concentrates, which is attached to a battery. And finally, though some might not put it in this category, dab rigs are also vaporizers of another sort, though coming in a bong format, and used specifically for concentrates. Dabs use fire to heat concentrates, and water to filter the vapor, but the result is a vapor that’s not very different from the vapors produced by oil carts since it utilizes concentrates. Dabs don’t have some of the safety issues that vape pens and dry herb vapes can have, in that heavy metal contamination is not relevant, unless it comes from the herbs themselves. One of the things that all vape carts and dry herb vapes have in common, is the ability for heavy metal contamination. In the case of dry herb vapes, it has to do with the metal pieces being used in the device, heating and releasing heavy metals into the vapor. Simply using the correct parts made of the right materials can greatly decrease heavy metal contamination. Premium companies like Da Vinci are at the forefront of safe vape technology. Vape carts have this issue too, along with the problem that the heavy metals can actually leach into the vape fluid, even when the cartridge is not being used, something that won’t happen with dry herbs. Vape carts come with added complications concerning chemical additives and synthetics being used in place of actual cannabis, which can make dry herb vaping the better prospect. For this reason, its important to know where you’re getting your product from, and safety measures being used. ![]() Dry herb vapes work to heat the herbs, but not enough to make them burn. This is important as lighting any material on fire and breathing it in, is dangerous, as smoke itself is carcinogenic. Vaping provides for the plant material (or oil) to be heated to a point just below combustion, which allows a vapor to be created, which is then breathed in. Dry herb vapes are usually conduction or convention (or a combination of the two). Convection has to do with air being heated and then passing through the herb, conduction involves heating the herbs in an internal bowl, generally made of stainless steel or ceramic. Convection is generally considered to be the better method, though conduction is easier to produce, particularly for portable models. Da Vinci uses conduction for its vapes. Both methods work very well. ConclusionTurkey Day is practically here and that means two things. Being grateful for all the good things in life (and surviving it at all), and, of course, that its time to start looking forward to the winter holiday season. Da Vinci is helping with both, with this year’s Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday sale. You can order your new vape in time to be thankful for it, and do some great holiday shopping for everyone else in your family. So happy Turkey Day to all! And make sure to have everything you need to get through all the family drama of being thankful this year! Hello and welcome…! The post 20% Off! Da Vinci Thanksgiving & Black Friday Sale for ALL Dry Herb Vapes appeared first on CBD Testers. Via https://cbdtesters.co/2021/11/24/20-off-da-vinci-thanksgiving-black-friday-sale-for-all-dry-herb-vapes/ The world of drugs is constantly shifting and changing. It seems like, finally, government’s are beginning to open their minds to the many magical benefits of drugs, and are no longer being blinded by the potential recreational uses. The truth is, almost all drugs that people may buy from street dealers or off the dark web – are also used daily in medical practices. This is the case with heroin, NOS, cocaine, MDMA and ketamine. What some of these drugs offer are quick relief from mental and physical pains, which usually prescribed medicines do not have the capability for. This is the situation with esketamine. Since 2019, esketamine has been medically legal in the UK due to its proven benefits for treating depression. But how has it been going? How easily accessible is it? And, more importantly, what even is esketamine? The UK isn’t championed by the rest of the world for their open-drug policies, but perhaps this is a start. Ketamine and esketamine therapy are all the rage, but they’re still not as easily accessible as cannabis. Fortunately, there has been more focus on these compounds in recent years and the market is poised to explode in the very near future. Remember to subscribe to The Psychedelics Weekly Newsletter for more articles like this one. And save big on Delta 8, Delta 9 THC, Delta-10, THCO, THCV, THCP & HHC products by checking out our “Best-of” lists! What is Esketamine?Esketamine is an isomer of ketamine, which essentially means that it has a very similar chemical structure, despite a few certain atoms. For those of you who aren’t aware, ketamine is both a popular recreational and medical drug. Ketamine has been found to be an anesthetic and anti-depressant and was actually used to treat injured Vietnam soldiers. Not only that, but Ketamine is often referred to as a ‘horse tranquiliser’ as it’s often used in veterinary practices to anaesthetize bigger animals. Ketamine has also been found to have euphoric effects, which is why it’s often used as a party drug, and is also why it’s not being further considered as a potential antidepressant. This is why Esketamine has not been created. Esketamine is actually a more potent version of ketamine. “…blocks N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors and interrupts the association pathways of the brain, resulting in dissociative anaesthesia and analgesia and in restoration of neural pathways regulating mood and emotional behaviour.” Now, this might sound a little bit scientific, but actually esketamine works quite simply. The drug is believed to act on a brain chemical called glutamate, which is thought to restore connections between brain cells, which supposedly shrink during long periods of depression. This regrowth leads to the production of healthy serotonin, which affects the emotions of a person. How It’s TakenEsketamine, unlike ketamine, is taken in the form of a nasal spray called Spavato. It’s taken alongside an oral anti-depressant. The patient will usually seek a prescription, and if they’re able to get one, they will embark on two key stages of treatment. Step 1Step 1, also known as the induction phase, consists of the user taking two treatments per week, for a full month. The amount of sprays and dosage will be different depending on the patient. Step 2Step 2, also known as the maintenance phase, will consist of the esketamine dosage being slowly reduced to once a week, or even perhaps once a fortnight. This is to see how bad the depression flares up with less of the medication. Esketamine & DepressionDepression is a mental health problem that can affect 1 in 5 adults in the UK. The symptoms of depression can include: feeling low, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, lack of appetite and a loss of hope. Most doctors prescribe anti-depressant drugs to deal with depression. These drugs are known as SSRIs and they help to keep more serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that carries signals between nerve cells; it’s thought to have a positive influence on mood. SRRIs stop serotonin from being reabsorbed after it carries these signals, which keeps more serotonin in the body. However, esketamine does not work like this. The issue with SSRIs is that they can take quite a long time to take effect – perhaps a few months – and for some people they don’t work at all. “As many as two-thirds of people with depression do not respond to the first medication prescribed and are considered to have TRD. TRD is a term used to describe depression that has failed to respond to at least two different antidepressants.” This is where esketamine comes in. TRD stands for treatment-resistant depression and essentially means that the usual SSRI treatment is obsolete for them. Esketamine works differently to mainstream antidepressants, it instead increases the levels of glutamate – which has the largest quantity of chemical transmitters in the body. The new drug is thought to be the future of antidepressants as it has robust effects within a few hours and the effects are long lasting. Eskatimine… “…Is one of the first “rapid acting” drugs for depression and the first drug in decades to target a new brain pathway. Unlike conventional antidepressants, which take weeks or months to take effect, ketamine has been shown in some patients to have enduring effects within hours.” The benefits of Eskatimine is undoubtable, and this has caused many countries to turn their heads towards it as a potential, more mainstream treatment option. That is why the UK, among other countries, have begun this process. Is Esketamine Legal in the UK?Yes. As previously mentioned, esketamine is a more potent, and slightly different version of ketamine. Ketamine is of course one of the most popular party drugs in the UK and in many countries. However, due to ketamine’s street-drug credit, many governments are fearful of using it as a viable antidepressant alternative. Nonetheless, in 2019, things changed. Spravato had been subject to many medical trials with those suffering from treatment-resistant depression and now... “..It has been deemed a safe treatment and was licensed in the UK for use in late 2019, as well as approved in the USA by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in early 2019” The companies that are the creators of the drug were Johnson & Johnson in the US, and Janssen-Cilag in the UK. Eskatmine in the form of a nasal spray is legal and available from specific psychiatric prescribers and pharmacists within the UK. However, like with all legalization, it’s never just as simple as ‘here you go, whoever needs it, come get it’. The truth is that, just like medical cannabis in the UK, esketamine is not an easy substance to get ahold of, and it’s not cheap either. So, let’s take a little look into how the UK is doing since legalizing this substance in 2019. How’s It Going Since 2019?Legalizing esketamine for medical use was a big leap for the UK and highlights a potential but a slow shift in drug policy. Nonetheless, the sad truth is that – whilst the substance could be having huge medical benefits for those suffering with TRD – it’s currently very difficult to get a prescription. Almost all of the limited prescriptions of Spravato come from private institutions, and the prices are not cheap. Supposedly, the current price of a 1 x 28mg nasal spray bottle is £163. In addition, to access esketamine you need a written prescription from a private psychiatrist. Psychiatrists are a luxury and are not something that the majority of people are able to afford. The NHS is the UK’s free health care service, and it is perhaps the UK’s pride and joy. However, it’s constantly underfunded by the Conservative government. The NHS do not currently back esketamine in the UK, as they don’t see it as being a cost effective option for them. Due to the price of it, it’s easier for them to continue prescribing other antidepressant medication than spravato. However, there is one specific case where the NHS has prescribed the drug. And that is in, of course, Scotland. Scotland is known to be the liberal side of the UK. “the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) accepted the use of esketamine (Spravato; Janssen) nasal spray for use within NHS Scotland for adults with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder on 8th September 2020.” Whilst this isn’t massive, it’s still a step in the right direction. The hope is that, going forward, the government will help the NHS to back the spravato medication and finally allow people who need it to have access to it. However, it could still be a long road ahead. Conclusion – Esketamine in the UKEsketamine is an example of a drug that has forced itself to be noticed by medical professionals and government officials due to its undoubtable worth. Even the UK, who aren’t the leaders of drug acceptance, have decided to give it esketamine shot. Whilst it is not the cheapest and most accessible antidepressant medication, the hope is that now it’s been accepted for medical use, it’s only a matter of time before more people have access to it. The hope is there. Let’s wait and see. Hello to all. Some will claim that Delta-9 THC is Delta-9 THC, no-matter what it is sourced from, so Legal THC is, in-fact, illegal… Other will state that based of the farm-bill, whatever comes from hemp is above all hemp-derived, so it is federally legal… The truth is that the whole concept of ‘legal THC’ is only a very unique loophole, but until the government takes action, or until full-legalization will put an end to it, the party will remain in full-power and hemp-derived Delta-9 THC will continue to be sold online. Looking how to hemp industry changed in the last two years, we can safely predict that Delta-9 THC will remain widely available for at least more 6-18 months, so unless something unexpected will happen, this winter is going to be a very interesting one… Having a Delta-9 THC product and want to send us your Black Friday 2021 deals? Holiday smokingLet’s be honest, every smoker wants to be high for Thanksgiving. Nothing makes turkey and stuffing taste better than toking on some fine California bud before the food is served. Plus, let’s be honest, family can be great, but there’s a reason we often move away. They can be stressful too. For some families, Thanksgiving isn’t even Thanksgiving if Uncle Joe doesn’t pick a fight with someone, and if cousin Allison doesn’t cry. And just like we know that Joe will be rude, and Allison will cry, and the turkey will be delicious, we also know that first chance we get, we’re going to steal away to the basement with a tightly packed joint, and let off some of that dealing-with-family-steam that’s built up. Maybe smoked alone, or with some other family member who’s also just trying to make it through. Chances are, that before pumpkin pie is served, we’ll be glassy-eyed, and at least partially immune to the bickering going on around. Truth is, while the general opinion on smoking weed has changed drastically in the last decade, it doesn’t mean everyone’s onboard, particularly the older folks who come from a generation of prohibition talk. So chances are, when you’re down in the basement smoking that joint, you’re really not going to want everyone to know. The problem with smoke? It spreads super easily, and once it’s out there, it’s hard to do much about it. You can spray perfumey scents that create a sweet-smoke mixture, or try to wave it all out a window with your hands, or just hope it weakens enough before getting to anyone’s nose. There are tons of situations in life where you might not want those around you to know what you’re smoking. Maybe you’re in a place where you’re not technically supposed to be smoking, or around people who just aren’t cool with it. Maybe it’s just that the smoke wouldn’t mix with what’s going on, or maybe there are little kids around. Whatever the reason, sometimes its not a good idea to have weed smoke around, and sometimes you need to cover the smell. Cover that smell with NSNTAt a point in life, I remember spraying cheap perfume in my car after smoking my one hitter before going into work most days. It smelled sickly sweet, and created a mixture of grossly sweet and smoky air, which would stay in my car, seep into the seats. It didn’t really help the situation in the end. Now, there are better options out there. Options that actually work. I was able to speak with retailers at this year’s MJBizCon, and found two different products perfect to cover the smell of cannabis smoke. The first literally kills the smoke smell, while leaving nothing behind at all, in an almost magic trick sort of way. It’s actually rather cool, just a few sprays from the bottle into a room of smoke, and the smoke just disappears, along with all scent. Nothing heavy left, nothing overly sweet and perfumey. Just clean-smelling air. The product NSNT (No Smell Not There) Air & Fabric Odor Neutralizer and Eliminator, neutralizes and eliminates all cannabis smoke odor, and it does it really fast. ![]() It can be used on any water-safe products like clothing, carpets, furniture, bedding, curtains etc. The spray produced is non-toxic, organic, and made in a cruelty-free way. This means not only will you get the smoke out of the air, but you won’t breathe in any bad, and unnecessary, chemicals instead. The company produces a product with no fragrance, alcohol, phthalates, phosphates, or parabens. The company is geared toward sustainable production methods using 100% recycled plastic, and biodegradable shipping paraphernalia. The one thing I found to be missing, is a complete ingredient list. The following product options exist for interested buyers:
The company also offers combination deals ranging from $15.75 to $54.25 which include multiple products per deal. As it is odor free, there is only one product scent option. Cover that smell with CannabolishThis is the second product I found that I really liked. First and foremost, this product name rocks. I fully admit that I’d likely take it off the shelf before NSNT (with all other things being equal) just because of its name. Good marketing truly has value, guys! The main difference between this and the previous option? A scent. Cannabolish comes in Wintergreen scent or Lavender scent, and can come as a spray or a candle. I have the wintergreen spray and think it smells a bit more like sandalwood, but I like the scent regardless. It did hang in the air for a little while after spraying, but in a generally light way. For those who don’t like scents, an odorless product like NSNT would probably be preferable. Much like with NSNT, Cannabolish truly did neutralize the scent immediately, with the spray taking the smoke right out of the air with about 4-6 sprays, and this after several bong hits. I went out of the room and came back in several times to test it out…there was no smell of smoke in the room after a few sprays of either product. Cannabolish product options include:
The company also sells odor removing gel for $9.99 (7 oz) or $15.99 (15 oz), and Kits comprised of multiple products, starting at $17.98. Interested buyers can even purchase apparel including hats for $20, and T-shirts for $25. ![]() How do these products work to cover the smell of smoke?NSNT breaks it down like this: “the simple chemistry is to have one molecule in our formula attach itself to one molecule of a cannabis related smell and together they quickly become totally neutralized, returning your environment to a completely smell-free environment!” Of course, the company goes on to stipulate: “Finding a formula to make it work was quite difficult. While there are products on the market that seem to use this theory, they fall short because they still utilize fragrances and alcohol. Adding to the challenge to find a workable product with no fragrance at all is to make a green product which is biodegradable, eco-friendly, sustainable and safe for humans and pets.” Cannabolish makes similar claims, stating on its site: “Traditional air freshener products just cover up unwanted odors with perfumes. They claim essential oils or natural plant extracts but use harsh chemical compounds and harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) when they spray. They’re unsafe to use and should be avoided. Cannabolish is made from natural plant oils and water (a blend we’ve perfected over 30 years), absorbing and removing odors without toxic ingredients. It’s safe to use around animals and people, in large or small spaces, as often as you need it.” This company does provide a partial ingredient list, but keeps its proprietary plant oil blends a secret, saying: “Marijuana smoke contains a multitude of chemicals produced from the combustion of the plant—resulting in toxic and odorous chemicals such as benzene, ammonia, and formaldehyde. Cannabolish candles and sprays were designed by investigating the causes of smoke odors (benzene, toluene, formaldehyde). Then a blend of plant oils was designed to cancel out those odorous chemicals.” Neither company was any more specific than this. Interested consumers can do a little research into how the process of neutralizing odors works, to understand better the difference between these products, and standard perfumes and smell-covering agents. ![]() Word to the wiseNot every odor neutralizer will be created equally, and many will employ unwanted chemicals. Do your homework if you’re looking for a more natural product. The two mentioned here are about as good as I could find, and although they don’t release all information, they do release enough to know they’re environmentally friendly, and produce naturally-based products. For those less concerned with chemicals, or who aren’t looking to neutralize an odor, there are a range of products available that can help with changing the smell around you. However, for those who want a high class, and well working product, these two companies have certainly nailed it. ConclusionHolidays are a great time to remember that smoking a joint can be the key to relaxing in a stressful family environment. Do so this year with added certainty that you can cover the smell of your weed successfully, and keep your private joint smoking moments…truly private. Hello and welcome! Via https://cbdtesters.co/2021/11/23/this-thanksgiving-cover-the-smell-products-to-reduce-cannabis-smoke-odor/ There’s a lot of debate about the possible dangers of cannabis, and how realistic those dangers are. A couple studies from decades ago have come to light again, reminding us that research has already shown us that THC, even in extremely high doses, won’t kill monkeys. What can this research tell us about THC and humans? It’s interesting that research from the 70’s found that THC given orally won’t kill monkeys. Sometimes past research gets forgotten about or ignored. This is good to know since cannabis is becoming legal, and high THC products are on the market. In fact, the industry has expanded to include more than delta-9 THC, and cannabinoids like delta-8 THC can also be bought off store shelves. Interested? Go ahead and check out The THC Weekly Newsletter to get great deals on Delta 8, Delta 9 THC, Delta 10 THC, THCO, THCV, THCP, & HHC products of your choice. The researchThere is a lot out there that will tell you cannabis is bad and can lead to bad things. While the jury might be out on certain topics, the idea that cannabis is lethal to humans, has never been proven. In fact, taking a trip back in time to revisit old research, it becomes clear it was already known that THC is not lethal to many animals, even in high doses. Back in 1973, Worcester Massachusetts’s Mason Research Institute conducted a study entitled: Comparison of acute oral toxicity of cannabinoids in rats, dogs and monkeys. This study was done all the way back in 1973, which is important to note, as it was done before the current debates about cannabis safety, and was done to actually ascertain at that time if THC could be lethal for monkeys, dogs, and rats, and at what doses. The monkeys used in the experiment were rhesus monkeys, however, the scientists also did comparable tests on rats and beagles, to see if there was variation in how different species of animals reacted to high levels of cannabinoids. It should be remembered that this study used massive doses of THC, amounts far beyond what a human would ever ingest in a short period of time. The study used delta-9 THC, delta-8 THC, and CME (crude marijuana extract), given in a single high dose. What the study investigators found in the research, is that while rats responded much more to the THC, with most dying at high amounts, THC won’t kill monkeys when given orally. ![]() Research shows rats die with large doses of THCThe study used 373 Wistar-Lewis and Fischer rats of both male and female sexes. All rats died in the experiment, with 95% dying within 72 hours of receiving a large dose of either delta-8 or delta-9 THCs. However all three compounds tested caused the rats to die eventually. The doses ranged from 225–3,600 mg/kg of THC. The general cause of death was severe hypothermia, which it’s already known that THC can cause, even in humans. While the delta-8 and delta-9 also caused severe organ damage and toxicity, the extract didn’t seem to cause as much organ damage, though it did provide the same amount of THC, leading the rats to die. In terms of effects of toxicity other than death, the rats showed severe hypothermia, bradypnea, rapid weight loss, inactivity, wide stance, ataxia, muscle tremors, and prostration. If you’re wondering just how much THC was given to these rats, it’s a massive amount. Considering each rat weighed approximately 150 grams, for each dose of 225 mg/kg, a rat was given approximately 33 mg of THC. At doses of 1,800 mg/kg, it means each of these 150 gram rats was being fed 540 mg of THC. Now consider that some of them received as much as 3,600 mg/kg. And now consider that legalized locations generally don’t allow more than 10 mg of THC per gummy for humans, and that most people won’t take more than a few at a time tops. And then remember that adult humans generally weigh 100 pounds plus. Research shows dogs will NOT die with large doses of THCA rat is a tiny animal, but a dog is much bigger. The dogs used in the study were beagles, and they were not full grown, with each being between 7-10 months, and weighing in the range of 6-13 kg. Not the biggest dogs ever, but much bigger than rats. The dogs were given doses as high as 3,000-9,000 mg/kg of THC per dose. This means that some of the animals may have taken in the neighborhood of 26,000 mg of THC. Once again, remember we consume gummies with generally not more than 10 mg of THC, and we’re all bigger than 13 kg. Only two dogs died during the study, and this was unrelated to the consumption of THC, but rather because of choking on the actual solution being administered. According to the study authors, the signs that the THC had reached levels of toxicity in the dogs were mostly related to drowsiness, ataxia, prostration, anesthesia, tremors, mild hypothermia, salivation, emesis, and anorexia. Regardless of the extremely high doses, no dogs died as a result of the THC. ![]() Research shows monkeys will NOT die with large doses of THCThe use of monkeys is interesting since they are more closely related to humans. The rhesus monkeys used in the study were also given the extremely high doses of 3,000-9,000 mg/kg of THC. Rhesus monkeys generally weigh on average around 5-8 kg. Much like with the dogs, no monkeys died from lethal THC exposure, and there weren’t any deaths related to other issues either. Also much like the dogs, though the massive doses of THC were not lethal, they did cause toxicity in the animals, which showed in symptoms of hyperreactivity to stimuli, lethargy, drowsiness, characteristic huddled posture, slow movements, abnormal eating procedures, and sedation. According to the researchers, they showed behavioral changes indicative of depression. One of the behaviors seen in the monkeys was the huddled posture, which more than 90% of the monkeys adopted while on these high doses of THC. The researchers stated: “In each case, the monkeys assumed a sitting position, often facing the back of their cages, and rested their faces in their hands or between their knees.” Of course, we’re already aware that ingesting too much THC (something that can happen easily with edibles) can make a human sick, so that these animals would experience symptoms of toxicity at higher levels than humans get sick on, does indeed make sense. The main takeaway of the study was the inability for scientists to find a lethal dose for monkeys or dogs when administered orally. Although both types of animals did show extreme signs of toxicity, which really isn’t surprising given the much-more-than-human doses that were given. Subsequent research on THC and monkeysA year after the previously mentioned study came out, a similar research study was done, specifically looking at delta-9 THC, and rhesus monkeys. This study, entitled Oral and intravenous toxicity of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol in rhesus monkeys, looked at both oral and IV administration of the THC, rather than just oral. In the study, 28 monkeys were given oral administration for 28 days using doses of 0, 50, 250 or 500 mg/kg of delta-9 per day. 16 monkeys were administered the THC through IV over 28 days, with doses of 0, 5, 15 or 45 mg/kg being given per day. The results were interesting and both back up and go against the last study. What was the same, was that none of the monkeys being given the THC through oral administration died, even with up to 9,000 mg/kg administered. As the last study dealt with just one dose, and this study dealt with daily doses over a 28 day period, there were some other results of interest in the oral category. A couple monkeys treated orally with 500 mg/kg per day became moribund (close to dead, but not dead) by days 10 and 14, and one reached that state on the 16th day at a rate of 50 mg/kg given daily. That it took till later days to get this reaction could imply that such a result required a large build-up in the system. However, every monkey being given an IV injection of the delta-9 THC died at doses of 128 mg/kg plus. They all died from cardiac failure, or respiratory arrest. So, either their hearts stopped beating, or their lungs stopped breathing. Both groups experienced the same physiological and behavioral changes, including lethargy, huddled posture, bradypnea, hypothermia, bradycardia, weight loss, anorexia, and constipation. Tolerance and cumulative toxicity were also similar between groups, with an obvious difference in outcome based on the route of administration. ![]() ConclusionThis research into THC and animals like monkeys is useful for our understanding of the toxicity of THC, and ability for it to cause death. While animals like dogs and monkeys are not likely to die with oral administration, this cannot be said for rats, or at least not when using extremely massive, and unrealistic doses. In fact, nothing mentioned above was based around the idea of realistic amounts of THC used, especially for the given weights of the animals. Because of this, it can’t be said from the study above that THC is necessary lethal to rats when taken in what would be normal, or even just somewhat high doses. But we can also see from the second study that the route of administration can have a large effect on the ability for death. While THC might not be deadly when taken orally for dogs and monkeys, even in monstrous amounts, this cannot be generalized to IV administration, which is a great reminder that how we take a drug can have an important impact on how it affects us. Of course, its still best to remember, that the monkeys started dying at 128 mg/kg, and that’s the equivalent of almost 13, 10-mg gummies, and humans don’t even do that, whether IV or not. So it is quite possible that at realistic rates, no monkeys would die from IV administration. In the end, what the two studies back up, is that a lot of THC can be consumed orally, without an expectation of death in monkeys or dogs, even if symptoms of toxicity are shown. And while these studies weren’t done on humans, human deaths haven’t been reported from ingesting THC. Since monkeys are very similar to humans, it could realistically be expected (but not assumed) that this outcome with the monkeys would go for humans as well, even at the same massive doses. Two last points: 1) Why do these studies never come up in the whole current debate about the possible dangers of THC, since they point a finger at the compound not being lethal for humans? And 2) I am not personally a fan of animal research, and while I think it’s great it allows us to learn information, I do not support these kinds of studies. Hello and thanks for stopping by! The post Research Says Oral THC Won’t Kill Monkeys, but Can Kill Rats appeared first on CBD Testers. Via https://cbdtesters.co/2021/11/23/research-says-oral-thc-wont-kill-monkeys-but-can-kill-rats/ For many people, smoking weed is not just a thing you do, it’s a lifestyle; and one that we take great pride in. I, for one, am always eager to share my knowledge and passion for all things cannabis. This attitude is rooted in a longstanding ‘stoner’ culture that is very intimate to the cannabis community and has been created and finetuned over the last few decades. But almost as soon as legalization started sweeping through the US, we started to see a shift.Old pot culture gave way to a trendy, standardized, multi-billion-dollar industry. Today we see sleek, modern dispensaries that resemble apple stores, farm-to-table cannabis restaurants and caterers, some of the most potent weed products your heart could desire, and an overall change in how the world views all these products, and the plant itself. It’s exciting to see how far we have come. But at what point does our homegrown, laid-back stoner culture that felt so down-to-earth and made this plant as popular as it is in the first place, become completely unrecognizable? Will it turn into just another ‘big business’ industry like alcohol, tobacco, wellness, pharma, and so many others. We’re already beginning to see a clash between business interests and grassroots activists, but the industry has room for both sides, and actually NEEDS as much diversity as possible. The cannabis industry has changed a lot over the last few years, but fundamentally, we all want the same thing: progress, although that could have varying meanings for different people. What is stoner culture? It’s hard to narrow it down to just a few attributes or social behaviors, but there are some are pretty characteristic of “stoners”, and we’ve seen it time and time again portrayed in the media. From Animal House or Cheech and Chong in the 1970s – an iconic time that many describe as the “golden era” of cannabis, psychedelics, and activism – to the 1990s which I personally remember as comedic haze of stoner movies and music that spilled over well into the next decade. Although the image was tweaked a bit over time, a few constants remained – the portrayal of a “stoner” was upbeat yet unmotivated, quirky, below average intelligence, friendly, aaaaand usually sweet and personable in their own goofy type of way (think Travis from Clueless). Over time, that harmless, loveable image (be it a huge misconception anyway) morphed in a few different types of personalities. For example, the lady-next-door ‘momtrepreneur’ that’s making a quick buck off a growing industry and broken system, like Nancy from Weeds. Or the casual modern-day smokers that do what they do and just mix pot use into their day-to-day lives, like Abbi and Ilana from Broad City. It’s uncommon now to see that oblivious and totally unaware stoner from years prior. One of the few shows I can think of that plays into those tired old clichés is Disjointed on Netflix, which was met with overwhelming criticism from people are just no longer interested in seeing potheads depicted as idiots anymore. Today’s cannabis users encompass many different personalities, from the 30-year-old underachiever smoking weed and playing video games in their parent’s basement, to the 20-something-year-old researcher and CEO who just developed a state-of-the-art form of nano emulsion technology to bring cannabis medicine to thousands of patients… and literally everything in between. State of the industry todayDespite federal prohibition and regulatory uncertainties, bottlenecked supply chains, an ongoing fight against the still-thriving black market, and let’s not forget, a global pandemic that has impacted so many different industries throughout the world – cannabis is still flourishing, in the United States and globally. According to data collected by Marijuana Business Daily and shared at this year’s MJBizCon in Las Vegas, legal cannabis sales in America hit $20 billion in 2020 and are expected to surpass $26 billion by the end of this year. Their projections for the future are that the US industry will explode to about $46 billion by 2025. Just a few years ago, multimillion-dollar deals were few and far in between but now they’re a regular occurrence. “The nearly $46 billion in sales would make the cannabis industry larger than the craft beer industry, said Chris Walsh, chief executive officer and president of MJBizDaily. “And these are potentially conservative numbers with what we see playing out. Sales continued to accelerate at a record pace in markets across the US — notably in established states, such as Colorado, Washington and Oregon. You’re seeing the next phase of a maturing industry take hold here.” It’s not at all shocking to hear, considering most Americans now live in a state where cannabis is legal in some capacity, be it medical, recreational, or both. In total, 36 states have legalized medical marijuana – 18 of which, plus Washington D.C., have also approved recreational adult-use programs. So, based on this rapid growth, not only do more citizens have access, but the cannabis is also creating tens of thousands of new jobs annually. By the start of 2021, roughly 321,000 Americans held employment in the cannabis industry either directly or through some ancillary company, and that number is growing steadily. “Take a look around,” said Karson Humiston, CEO and founder of Vangst, which runs a cannabis industry-centric job recruiting site, gesturing to bustling crowds in the exposition hall. “People want to get out of their old-school, dying industry, and they want to move into cannabis. This is it. Now is the moment to get involved, because it’s never going to be this small again.” Cannabis industry gentrification? All this is not to say that I’m against legalization. I’m 100 percent pro-progress and vehemently against the War on Drugs that has torn communities apart with racist enforcement, widespread arrests, and mass incarcerations of citizens simply for possession personal amounts of pot. I think everyone can agree that we’re in a much better place now than we were 50 years ago. The main problem people are having, as I see it, is the rush to corporatization and industrialism that’s slowly chipping away at the casual, unique, and authentic vibe that cannabis culture has always been synonymous with. I mean, even Tommy Chong is having trouble placing his strains in dispensaries because he’s “too stoner” for the modern cannabis connoisseur, or more aptly, cannasseur. “We represent the stoner image of Mexicans,” Chong said. “They don’t want that anymore. They can’t market that to millennials.” Things certainly are different now from what I, and many of the people I grew up with, are used to seeing. “Someone who has always been in the mindset that (cannabis) is their alternative to a highball at the end of the night might not appreciate how cannabis is being used now on the medical side,” said Danny Mann, general manager at Modern Cannabis, a Logan Square dispensary. “Worrying about the counterculture being replaced by new cannabis culture is on people’s minds now. But it can also reek of nostalgia.” He’s not wrong. The industry is in an amazing position right now, poised only to succeed even more. The main reason we resist many of these changes is simply because it’s sad to see the classic trends go. To think that the rasta-hippy-grunge-total stoner persona may one day be a thing of the past, is just a tad bit disappointing. Think back to when our parents were growing up, the rallies they had, and the type of people who were truly advocating for cannabis legalization, promoting the therapeutic potential, pushing for safe access, arguing for the industrial benefits of hemp, and denouncing existing regulations and striving for reform – it was the potheads! Not businesspeople, influencers, celebrities, and so forth; it was your diehard, weed-smoking activists that were the heart and soul of cannabis advancement in the US; and eventually they became a sort of lifestyle-brand in their own rights, a symbol of indepence and rebellion, paving the way for changes in marijuana and psychedelics laws. In my opinion, everything about these past eras will be dearly missed but I welcome positive changes with an open heart and mind. “Clash of the Titans”According to five marijuana industry insiders, including CEOs and farms, discussed these issues during a panel at MJBizCon called “Clash of the Titans.” They noted that despite tensions between these two often opposing heads of the industry, when you look at the bigger picture, both sides play their own very important role for the “wider legalization movement”. “Big business cannot survive without what cannabis culture has brought to the table,” said Wanda James, owner of Denver-based Simply Pure, a vertically integrated cannabis company. James lambasted much of the industry, arguing that women and minorities have had too hard a time getting a toehold in the business. She decried that as a disservice to the legacy of the marijuana plant and its cultural roots. “Setting up this dichotomy of ‘Big Business versus cannabis culture’ is a false dichotomy,” mentioned another panalist, Ayr Wellness co-Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Drake. “There’s going to be plenty of room for everyone to succeed.” Overall, the general tone of the discussion was that more direct effort needs to made to encourage alliance and collaboration between entrepreneurs who are focused on various financial interests like tax structures, banking access, business licensing; and advocates who are striving to improve policies regarding home cultivation, medical cannabis patient and caregiver rights, support for female and minority entrepreneurs, and so on. Final thoughtsIf there’s one thing I’ve learned in going to different cannabis industry trade shows and talking to people from all over the world, it’s that the cannabis industry absolutely has room for everyone. New points of view keep everything fresh and exciting, and that’s one of the wonderful things about the industry that has stayed relatively unchanged over time, cannabis represents inclusivity and that needs to be reflected in business dealings as well as cultural traditions.
