The world of cannabis is constantly shifting and changing, and so are the methods that people use to consume it. It is now possible to eat, drink, vape, smoke or even rub into the skin in order to feel the effects of THC. But that is only the beginning. Each year fresh ideas are being thought up by innovators for how cannabis can be consumed. But old and new, what are the weirdest ways to feel the effects of the plant? We’re going to be taking a look at 5 of these. Have you tried any of them yourself? Cannabis InnovationThe reason why weirder ways to consume cannabis are coming out all the time is due to the amount of exciting innovation that is taking place in the current market. There was once a time where cannabis was illegal in many of the major countries around the world and even speaking its name was taboo. However, we’re now moving into 2023 and the weed industry is worth a whopping 40 billion dollars. In addition, it’s only increasing in value. It is a rapidly growing and evolving field, and innovation is driving much of its growth and success. Before we look at the 5 weirdest ways to consume cannabis, let’s first understand a few reasons why there is so much innovation in the cannabis industry in the first place: Changing Legal StatusThe USA is always a great example when discussing cannabis legalization. As of 2023, 21 of the 50 US states have now fully legalized marijuana. As more and more countries and states legalize cannabis for medical or recreational use, the demand for new and innovative products is increasing. Companies are constantly working to develop new ways to consume cannabis and meet the needs of consumers, leading to a surge in innovation. Even in the UK for instance – where weed is legal only medicinally – cannabis vapes are sold under the false-ish name of ‘dry herb vaporizers’. This is because they want to cater to those who want to vape instead of smoke their medicine. However, if companies referred to them as weed vapes they would likely get sanctioned in a variety of ways. Medical PotentialAnother reason for innovation in the cannabis industry is the substance’s medical benefits. Cannabis has long been used for medicinal purposes, and research is now in full force to explore its positive effects on health. This has led to the development of new cannabis-based products such as tinctures, oils, and topical creams, as well as the creation of new strains of cannabis with specific medicinal properties. Unlike before, you can now use THC or CBD cream to aid your aches and pains. The cannabinoids enter slowly through the skin. Entrepreneurial SpiritWithout sounding overly cynical, many people follow the money. The cannabis industry is now worth a great deal and, consequently, it is attracting a lot of entrepreneurial talent. Many people are looking to start their own businesses or invest in the sector. This spirit of entrepreneurship is driving innovation as companies compete to come up with the next big thing in the cannabis world. Technological Advancements![]() As with any industry, technological advancements are also driving innovation in the cannabis sector. New technologies are allowing for more precise cultivation methods and more efficient extraction processes. Rosin press’, for instance, are allowing people to make their own cannabis concentrates at home. Even the knowledge of cannabinoids within the cannabis plant are increasing, with more being found all the time. Now you can buy THC oil that contains new cannabinoids, such as CBN and THCV. These advancements are only going to progress. 5 Weirdest Ways to Consume WeedWhilst there are a plethora of ways to take your cannabis, let’s have a look at some of the strangest ways. You can eat it in edibles, you can drink it, you can vape it and, of course, you can smoke it. But what is even weirder than that? Let’s take a look. 1 – SnortingFor a long time, cannabis seemed to be about the only recreational substance in the world you couldn’t snort to get you high. Ketamine? Yes. Cocaine? Yes. MDMA? Yes. Cannabis? Absolutely not. Well, you can now. Nasal spray is actually a very common way to consume medical cannabis specifically. Sativex, which is a legal substance in many countries, is used to treat aches and pains. This is given in the form of a nasal spray. Thus, you can technically snort cannabis in this day and age. However, you wouldn’t want to do it in its pure form. If you finely crushed raw weed buds and tried to snort it, it would probably hurt a lot. Plus, because cannabis needs to be heated to be activated – hence why it’s cooked or vaped or smoked – no desired effects would actually occur. Thus, you have to snort it using a special nasal spray. 2 – Cannabis-Infused WineAnother strange way to consume cannabis is in wine. Now we’ve all heard the fateful expression: “weed before grass, you’re on your arse”. But what if they’re infused together? Does drinking them at the same time somehow make them a perfect combination? Well, not to worry, this wine brand sell non-alcoholic beverages. The Rebel Coast Winery in California have brought out their very own brand of non-alcoholic Sauvignon Blanc, containing 5mg of THC per glass. The interesting thing about this drink is that the THC is fast-acting, which means it won’t take ages to kick in like usual edibles. Drink Me Mag writes: “The HydroPS technology developed by Ebbu is fast-acting and reliable. Consumers can enjoy a glass at dinner and know how it will affect them, just like drinking a glass of traditional wine.” No alcohol, but THC that will give you that immediate buzz that wine normally does. It’s a brilliant idea. 3 – Cannabis LubeBelieve it or not, there are some people who use cannabis-infused lube as a way to enhance sexual pleasure. Cannabis lube is said to provide a tingling sensation and increase blood flow to the area, which can lead to more intense orgasms. It can also lead to a higher sex drive. Quim Rock’s Intimate Oil is one of the best on the market, containing tea tree oil and THC. The interesting addition to this product is that it can also help the health of the vagina too, with its antiseptic properties aiding any urinary tract or yeast infections. Result. Consuming cannabis through your sexual organs is certainly a strange method, but it evidently gets pleasurable results. Hey, thank you for making it over. We’ve got options, pick well! 4 – Cannabis ConcentratesCannabis concentrates are products made from the cannabis plant that have had the majority of the plant material removed, leaving behind a highly potent and concentrated substance. They are truly the future of cannabis. There are several different types of concentrates, including oil, shatter, wax, and live resin. These products are often used for their high levels of THC, CBD, or other cannabinoids. They are typically consumed by dabbing, vaporizing, or adding them to food or drink. The reason why cannabis concentrates have made this list is because they highlight just how innovative the industry has become. People can now purchase their own industrial level rosin press machines – use its force and heat – and create their own. This stuff can be over triple the strength of raw buds. 5 – Cannabis SuppositoriesIt might sound made up but, honestly, cannabis suppositories exist and are part of a new wave. Putting weed up your rectum is now thought to be one of the most effective ways of consuming it. Not only are they said to provide a quicker and more intense high, but they also avoid feeling stoned even when you consume THC. THC has many health benefits, but sometimes people don’t want to have to also feel ‘high’ as well. The suppository choice avoids this entirely. So before you turn your nose up at it, why not give it a go? ConclusionThe world of cannabis is ever evolving and the ways in which people consume it is developing also. However, there are certain methods that stick out as a little more weird and wonderful than the others. These were the 5 weirdest ways to consume cannabis. There are probably plenty more that are still unknown. However, sometimes the weirdest things can be the most beautiful. Drugs are fun, sure, but sometimes you have to know how to do things right in order to get the best response. For example, if you eat regular cannabis in fresh form, you won’t get high. Just like if you smoke a magic mushroom, you also won’t get high. Knowing how to use something is just as important as having access to it. And so, here are a list of salvia tips and tricks, to ensure users get it right, and get the most out of it. What is salvia? What we call salvia, is actually a broad family of plants which includes well known kitchen ingredients like Salvia rosmarinus, aka rosemary, and Salvia officinalis, aka sage. However, the salvia that we’re talking about is Salvia divinorum, which comes with the particular designation of causing psychoactive effects. It’s said that Salvia divinorum originated in the cloud forests of the Sierra Mazateca in Oaxaca, Mexico; but it’s also quite possible that it came from somewhere else and was brought to this location by other native tribes. Either way, the plant flourishes in the moist and shady conditions of that particular climate; though these days its much more ubiquitous and can be found in many different parts of the world, including the US. Salvia and its cousins like rosemary and sage, all reside in the Lamiaceae mint family. Salvia divinorum can be separated to ‘divinorum’ which comes from the word ‘divination’, and ‘salvia’ or sage. It translates to “diviner’s sage” or “seer’s sage.” Mazatec shamans used it for hundreds of years in spiritual, healing, and divination ceremonies. One use was to induce hallucinations and different states of consciousness. Some native cultures still use it in this way today. Hey, thank you for making it over. We’ve got options, pick well! It is customary for shamans to use fresh leaves to represent the Virgin Mary. Rituals often start with an invocation to her or other saints; which is done quietly, as its said Mary speaks with a quiet voice. Beyond spiritual use, Salvia has medical benefits, and is known to treat diarrhea, anemia, headaches, rheumatism, ‘swollen belly’, and as a diuretic. Unlike other plants, like psilocybin mushrooms, opium, or DMT-containing plants, salvia is legal. It was never scheduled federally in the DEA’s Controlled Substances list. This oversight is likely because salvia was simply not known to the US at the time the government went through its flurry of illegalization measures in the latter half of the 1900s. Much like amanita mushrooms, not being in view, meant getting out of illegalization. There are, however, 13 states that did make policies against the plant in some form or another. Internationally it varies greatly. Some countries like Estonia, Finland, Iceland, and Norway hold it as a medication requiring a prescription. It’s illegal in a lot of Europe, but not all. In France and Spain, for example, its legal to possess it and grow it, but not sell it. This is true of Chile as well. In Russia, you can have it, but you can’t grow or sell it. What does it do?How exactly salvia works is not entirely known. It is known that one of the main active compounds is salvinorin A, which is classified as a diterpenoid. While it causes intense hallucinations, it acts differently than other hallucinogens. This may be in part because of a lack of nitrogen atoms, which separates it from other hallucinogens like psychedelics. Salvinorin A makes for short trips of approximately 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. It causes the following: sedation (its an oneirogen drug); spatial disorientation; lowering of motor control; analgesia; amnesia; delusions; depersonalization; music appreciation; analysis, language, and memory suppression; uncontrollable laughter; time distortion; slower thinking; hallucinations (auditory and visual); spiritual feelings; feelings of near-death; and connection. It goes further than this though, also changing how gravity feels, something called ‘salvia gravity;’ by making the user feel like they’ve morphed into something else, or are being stretched in some way; and spontaneous bodily feelings, like pins and needles. Salvia is known for creating very intense experiences. ![]() Salvia tips and tricks for best useThis part is important, because not every entheogenic plant can simply be swallowed down to get the best effects. As stated earlier, swallowing down cannabis will get you a whole lot of nothing in terms of a high, just like lighting up a psilocybin mushroom, or eating an amanita mushroom raw, can cause problems. Likewise, if you eat a DMT plant without the Banisteriopsis caapi vine, you shouldn’t expect an ayahuasca trip, and if you take a bite out of the side of a San Pedro cactus, you’ll not get a mescaline effect. There are ways to do things, and ways not to. Salvia is no different, and in order to get the best effects, it must be consumed properly. A lot of people will brush salvia off as a nothing drug. I certainly did when I first smoked it, but that’s because it was a long time ago, and I didn’t know what I was doing. In order to help others have a better experience than I did, I’ve put together these salvia tips and tricks, to ensure the best time possible. Salvia tips and tricks – the smoking method. You can smoke salvia, though this isn’t a preferred method of intake. When smoking, the user is using dried leaves. Something about salvinorin A is that it only gets released with very high temperatures; meaning its better to use a torch lighter which burns hotter. Inhales should be done quickly, with little-to-no time in between. You should hold the lighter above the plant material and bring it down into the material while inhaling. This is the fastest way to feel effects, which should start within a minute when smoking. Intense effects die down within five minutes with this method, and the entire trip is usually over in a half hour. The smoke should be held in the lungs for a full 20-30 seconds to allow uptake. Exhaling too quickly means absorbing way less salvinorin A. This is where a lot of people go wrong. If you don’t heat it with a high enough temperature, or you don’t hold it in long enough, you might not feel anything at all. Salvia tips and tricks – the tincture method. The tincture method is one of the more intense ways to use the drug, but as with any tincture making, strength varies depending on preparation. A salvia tincture involves soaking the fresh leaves in a high proof ethyl alcohol, for at least two weeks. How long its left helps determine how strong the end product is. After soaking the desired amount of time, the plant material is strained out, and the resulting tincture can be administered by the drop. It’s best to start with just one drop in the beginning to test strength, and increase accordingly. Drops should be held under the tongue, as they will not provide effects if immediately swallowed down. ![]() Salvia tips and tricks – the tea method. This is one of the standard and traditional methods for consumption. It requires about 20-80 leaves to make a good tea, which is equal to about 50–200 grams (2–7 oz). The tea can be made in two ways. Either by juicing the leaves and mixing the extract with water. Or to infuse the leaves directly in hot water. Either dried or fresh leaves are usable for tea. Using dry leaves requires approximately 3-4 grams. For an infused tea, the leaves need to be boiled for five minutes, and then the tea cooled for 15. There’s a trick with drinking the tea. Salvinorin A is destroyed in the gastrointestinal system when swallowed. Uptake must occur not through the digestive tract, but in the mouth. Therefore, keeping it in the mouth is important if a user wants to access all the effects. Each mouthful should be swished around for 15-20 seconds so the blood vessels in the mouth can absorb as much as possible. Drinking it straight down will minimize effects. Salvia tips and tricks – the chewing method. Just like tea, this method is not about consuming the leaves, but keeping them in the mouth for a while. Effects come on slower when chewing or making a tea, and can take 10-20 minutes. The Mazatecs actually did swallow down the leaves after chewing for several minutes, but since nothing comes from the swallowed part, this is unnecessary. This is the most time-consuming method, and the slowest one to make a person high, though ingestion this way lasts longer than smoking. Essentially, the leaves are kept in the mouth as long as possible, and chewed to break down the plant material and release the salvinorin A. Should you quickly chew and swallow the leaves down, don’t expect anything to happen. These days most people spit out the leaves after chewing. Salvia tips and tricks – the sublingual method – This method is similar to the tea and chewing methods in that it accesses blood vessels in the mouth for its main source of uptake. Like any sublingual administration, it means leaving something (fresh leaves) under the tongue for a couple minutes (or longer) to allow the many blood vessels to pick up the compounds. Technically, the difference between sublingual and both chewing and tea, is that sublingual relies on blood vessels under the tongue, and tea and chewing rely more on the mucous lining of the mouth. ConclusionSo, there you have it. If you’ve been trying to use salvia and having issues, these tips and tricks should help out. As always, please use responsibly. ![]() You’re awesome – thanks for stopping by Cannadelics.com; where we work daily to bring you the very best in independent reporting for the cannabis and psychedelics landscapes. The post Salvia: Tricks of Use for the Best Experience appeared first on Cannadelics. Via https://cannadelics.com/2023/01/26/salvia-tricks-of-use-for-the-best-experience/ If you read about drugs often (like I do), you’ve probably come across the terms “psychoactive” and “psychedelic” quite frequently. Although many publications use them interchangeably, that is incorrect and there are some key differences between the two. The broadest way to describe it, is that all psychedelic drugs are psychoactive, but not all psychoactive drugs are psychedelic. Let’s discuss further what separates the two. Defining psychoactive drugsAny drug that crosses the blood-brain barrier and changes the state of mind from baseline level can be defined as psychoactive. Also known as psychopharmaceuticals, psychoactive agents or psychotropic drugs, they change the way the nervous system functions, resulting in altered mood, perception, consciousness, cognition, and behavior. These changes can be either beneficial or detrimental to the user, depending on the particular substance, dose, and what it’s being utilized for. Psychoactive substances can be used medically, recreationally, spiritually, or for research purposes. Groups of psychoactive drugs include stimulants, depressants, narcotics/opioids, hallucinogens, cannabis, and designer drugs. All illicit drugs are psychoactive, but some psychoactive substances that often slide under the radar also include caffeine, nicotine, and various pharmaceuticals. ![]() There is archaeological evidence that psychoactive substances, mostly plants, have been used for at least 10,000 years. Although medicinal use is an important element here, some claim it’s strictly based on the cerebral effects and that the urge to alter one’s consciousness is “as primary as the drive to satiate thirst, hunger, or sexual desire”. Or in other words, the impulse to get high is natural and universal. Supporters of this theory point to children’s almost innate compulsion to swing, spin, and find ways to make themselves dizzy. What are psychedelics?Psychedelic drugs, or hallucinogens, are a class of substances which contain compounds that can alter perception. They are also commonly referred to as “entheogens”, although that term is now more frequently associated with hallucinogenic plants. Regardless, the word entheogen is Greek in origin and can be roughly translated to mean “building the God within”, and the high produced by these drugs (known as a “trip”) can be very spiritual and mind-expanding in nature. Psychedelic trips include various types of visual, auditory, and sensory hallucinations. The intensity of a trip can vary dramatically based on the specific compound and dose consumed. Sometimes, a user will experience no hallucinations at all, but rather a sense of general well-being, spirituality, and euphoria. Dosing and setting, among other factors, can significantly impact a psychedelic trip, so you want to make sure that you’re doing everything possible to guarantee an uplifting and beneficial high. Psychedelics can be naturally-derived like psilocybin, or manmade like ketamine. Both natural and synthetic hallucinogens are generally regarded as safe. According to the results of a Global Drug Survey that polled 120,000 regular drug users, magic mushrooms were the safest recreational drug, along with cannabis. Their method at determining user safety was by comparing the drug used to the amount of required emergency room visits. Only 0.2% of the nearly 10,000 mushroom users surveyed had ever required emergency care, compared to the 1.0% of those using harder drugs like ecstasy or cocaine. Furthermore, a growing body of research has found that certain psychedelic substances can help relieve anxiety, depression, PTSD, addiction and numerous other mental health disorders. “The biggest misconception people have about psychedelics is that these are drugs that make you crazy,” says Michael Pollan, author of the new book How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence. “We now have evidence that that does happen sometimes — but in many more cases, these are drugs that can make you sane.” Most psychedelics are serotonergic, meaning they act on our serotonin receptors to produce effects. However, a handful of psychedelics work via different mechanisms, such as muscimol in amanita muscaria mushrooms which interacts with certain opioid receptors, yet still produces dissociative and hallucinogenic effects. Go get stoned responsibly! Why it mattersAlthough many people would rate themselves as good communicators, according to various studies and surveys, roughly 75-81 percent of communications are misinterpreted. This is why words are so important, and why it’s imperative that you give as much factual, relevant detail as possible when you are trying to convey a message. This is especially true in the world of drugs. When explaining what a substance is, what it does, and how it acts in the human body, you want to be as specific and correct as possible. There could be irreparable consequences when someone muddles information pertaining to substances that could be deadly when used incorrectly. That being said, mixing up “psychoactive” and “psychedelic” is not quite so problematic, but it can lead to a lot of confusion, especially among inexperienced recreational users. Not to mention, if you’re in the industry and using important words incorrectly, it can come across as unprofessional. Final thoughtsTo quickly recap, all psychedelic drugs are psychoactive, but not all psychoactive drugs are psychedelic. Psychoactive drugs alter mood and perceptions in a large variety of different ways, whereas psychedelic drugs work specifically by producing visual, auditory, and sensory hallucinations. The post Psychedelic vs Psychoactive – What’s the Difference? appeared first on Cannadelics. Via https://cannadelics.com/2023/01/25/psychedelic-vs-psychoactive-whats-the-difference/ 2020 brought us Oregon and the first legalization for psychedelic mushrooms in the US. 2022 brought us Colorado doing the same, but with more compounds legalized, and a separate pre-emptive legalization for MDMA. Now, it’s a new year, so let’s take a look at which states are looking to reform their psychedelics policies, going into 2023. The first two: Oregon and ColoradoIn the 2020 elections, Oregon put Measure 109 and Measure 110 to the voters, both of which passed, with 55.75%, and 58.46% of the vote, respectively. The first law is a measure to legalize some use of psilocybin mushrooms, and the second is a decriminalization measure for the personal possession of illicit drugs. Together they make for a full drug decriminalization in the state, as well as a drug legalization under certain parameters. The parameters were made more clear in 2022 upon the release of rules for the new industry. For one thing, the legalization only covers psilocybin mushrooms, and of those mushrooms, only one species: Psilocybe cubensis. Furthermore, all legal use must be done in a certified center under the watchful eye of a non-medical tripsitter. Different municipalities have the option of opting out of this allowance. In the 2022 elections, Colorado joined in as the second state to legalize some form of a psychedelic, though Colorado went a bit further. Instead of focusing on just psilocybin mushrooms, the state made it about entheogenic plants as part of a natural medicine program, though not all medicinal plants are a part of this. It includes the compounds: psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, mescaline (minus Peyote), and ibogaine. It also sets up regulation for trip centers, but does allow administration of the compounds outside of this. It decriminalizes use of these compounds outside legal administration. Colorado made it so that when the measure passed, the entire state was obligated to oblige. Unlike Oregon, no individual locations have the ability to say no, making for a standard law throughout the state. Colorado also was the first state to pass a pre-emptive legalization for medical MDMA. This legalization lies in wait for a federal legalization first, and has no power until that happens. When it does, Colorado is set to go with regulations for its medical MDMA industry. Hey, thanks for joining in. Subscribe to the Cannadelics Weekly Newsletter for email updates, and to get yourself promos for cannabis buds, vapes, edibles, smoking devices, cannabinoid compounds, and a ridiculous amount more. It’s the time to get stoned. Please do so responsibly! States to watch for psychedelics reform in 2023 – California and WashingtonCalifornia and Washington are both coming off of failed psychedelics bills in the previous year. And both are already back with new bills to offer, both of which have been tweaked to create more passable versions in the hopes of having a better chance this time around. California is offering SB 58 as an improved version of SB 519. SB 519 didn’t actually die like other failed bills, but instead was intentionally pulled by its creator, Sen. Scott Wiener. SB 519 would have decriminalized the possession of both natural and synthetic compounds, as well as legalizing medical use for patients in need, and mandating further research. The new SB 58 narrows its scope to the same five compounds as Colorado: psilocybin, psilocin, DMT, ibogaine, and mescaline; with synthetics like LSD and MDMA removed. It omits the research requirement. As the previous bill passed the Senate in California, as well as its first two Assembly committees, there’s plenty of reason this newer version should also do well. Wiener pulled the previous bill because of the edits made to it, which downgraded it to nothing more than a research initiative; taking out everything else. The hope is that with the scope minimized to just the chosen entheogenic plants, the bill will pass through. Washington is coming back with SB 5263 to take the place of the failed SB 5660. Some of the revisions to this new bill include a longer implementation time of 24 months, to make sure everything goes smoothly; greater worker protections for those administering the drugs; the requirement of group sessions for drug administration; the ability for administration outside of a service center (like Colorado); greater privacy for users; and no maximum doses under 50mg. It also doesn’t allow individual locations to opt-out. One of the other things this new bill does, is move away from the standards of tripsitting that have thus far been employed by the two legal states. Washington will instead require a new license that is earned with 120 classroom hours, and 250 practice hours. In comparison, Oregon only mandated tripsitters to go through 40 hours of training. ![]() Other states looking for psychedelics reform in 2023 – CT, IL, NYThe psychedelics industry is moving at breakneck speeds, going from a snowball to an avalanche in no time at all. Connecticut is one state looking for psychedelics reform in 2023. It’s doing so with a bill (H.B. No. 5102) which legalizes “the use of psilocybin for medicinal and therapeutic purposes, including, but not limited to, the provision of physical, mental or behavioral health care.” The bill is being spearheaded by democratic democratic Representative David Michel, who had this to say: “Decriminalizing will help end the targeting of certain communities… and authorizing psilocybin for medical and therapeutical use, I believe, is key when mental health is at an all-time low.” He went on, that “It’s more needed than ever,” and that its senseless to be “constantly going through pharmaceutical products when nature-based approaches can be very effective.” Illinois is another state looking for psychedelics reform in 2023. In the beginning of January, democratic Representative La Shawn Ford pre-filed the Compassionate Use and Research of Entheogens Act. This law would take psilocybin out of the controlled substances list of the state, and create an advisory board concerning therapeutic services for the compound. According to Ford, this bill, which would also expunge criminal records, is a main point for the season. New York also wants in on psychedelics reform for this year. Democratic Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal pre-filed a bill early in January to legalize some entheogenic plants for an adult-use market of 21 and above. State statutes would be updated to allow the “possession, use, cultivation, production, creation, analysis, gifting, exchange, or sharing by or between natural persons of twenty-one years of age or older of a natural plant or fungus-based hallucinogen.” The wording of the bill means inclusion of the standards like psilocybin, DMT, and mescaline, and could work to legalize more if not naming the drugs specifically. The bill would open up an industry of psychedelics services, and allow use of the plants in religious ceremonies (something that already applies to mescaline.) Even more states looking to get in on it in 2023 – NJ, MO, VA, MO, MN, NHNo, we’re not done, there are several more states looking for psychedelics reform in 2023. Like New Jersey. Democratic Senate President Nicholas Scutari filed a bill last year that’s still in play. The bill would legalize not just the possession of psilocybin mushrooms, but their cultivation as well. Like most others of its kind, it would seek to set up locations where psilocybin services could be administered. New Jersey already signed off on a bill in 2021 to substantially reduce penalties for up to one ounce of psilocybin possession. In Missouri, Representative Tony Lovasco re-filed a previously failed bill for psychedelics reform (HB 869), on January 18th of this year. The revised version would set up psilocybin service centers for issues like treatment-resistant PTSD and depression, and would require a doctor’s recommendation. Said Lovasco to Marijuana Moment, “We’re going to have to limit it to psilocybin initially as that’s what we have the most data and research on.” ![]() Virginia also has a take on how to reform the issue. Out of several initiatives in the state, one of the most promising is from democratic Delegate Dawn Adams who put forth HB 1513, which would legalize psilocybin for “refractory depression or post-traumatic stress disorder or to ameliorate end-of-life anxiety.” All requiring a doctor’s prescription. The law comes with provider protections, and decriminalizes the non-medical use of the drug as well. Adams has yet another bill in play (HB 898) to decriminalize a host of psychedelic compounds. A third bill in the state, filed by democratic Senator Ghazala Hashmi (SB 932), moves psilocybin from schedule I to schedule III. This bill would also seek to set up strategies for setting up psilocybin clinical services via a Virginia Psilocybin Advisory Board. Next up is Montana which hasn’t released anything yet, but is working on two bills so far this year. The first would legalize medical psilocybin for psychiatric purposes. The second one is simply to set up a research initiative about psychedelics for medical use in general. Both are still in the draft stage. Minnesota isn’t missing out, with a bill also in draft stage by democratic Representative Andy Smith. This bill would legalize, in some capacity, medical psychedelics. According to Smith, “For decades scientific research into the positive effects of psychedelic medicine has been muzzled by the ‘war on drugs,’ but that is [starting] to change.” No official bill is released yet. Last up? New Hampshire. On January 5th, republican Representative Kevin Verville submit HB 328 which would institute an adult use market of 21 and above for a number of psychedelic compounds including synthetics like LSD, and entheogenic plants like psilocybin. The bill actually isn’t more specific than this in terms of exactly which drugs it applies to. Beyond creating an adult-use market for these drugs, it would work to lower penalties for the manufacture, possession, and sale of LSD and PCP. ![]() ConclusionIt’s unlikely that all of the psychedelics reform bills for 2023 will go through, but some of them should. And then next year? Even more. The psychedelics world is really opening up, and within a few years we can easily expect the landscape to look very, very different. The post Bring On the Psychedelics: States Looking to Reform Policy in 2023 appeared first on Cannadelics. Via https://cannadelics.com/2023/01/25/bring-on-the-psychedelics-states-looking-to-reform-policy-in-2023/ Consuming drugs can be a bit of a minefield. There are both very normal and very abnormal ways of doing it. For every joint smoker, you have someone proudly using THC lube. For every ecstasy pill swallowed, you also have someone putting it in their drink. And for every bit of powder snorted, you also have someone trying to put it where the sun doesn’t shine. Rectum inserting – also known as ‘shelving’ – is an odd way of taking drugs but it does have more purpose than you may think. Whilst it definitely isn’t a method that should be used often, its initial benefits are quite intriguing and sensical. So, let’s answer this question: why are people shelving their drugs? What is Shelving? Some call it boofing, some call it booty bumping and some call it shelving – but whatever words you want to use, it basically involves putting drugs up your bum. Usually this refers to ecstasy, as the pill can quite easily fit into the rectum. Although, there are many cases of other kinds of drugs going up there too. It might sound odd, but actually this technique makes a lot of sense. Whilst this method of consumption may have originated or been popularized by the LGBT communities, the act itself is done by basically anyone. Although, many people would be too afraid to try it. So let’s break the stigma and learn more about this oddly sensical way of consuming drugs. Ecstasy![]() Ecstasy (pill form) or MDMA (powder form) is a stimulant drug that causes feelings of euphoria, alertness, love, hallucinations and heightened senses. Everything feels better on MDMA. This substance is one of the most popular party drugs out there, and is often paired with music events and gigs. If you’ve ever seen two people cuddling intensely in a smoking area or talking about how much they love each other, then ecstasy is probably the cause. Drug Abuse writes about a fictional ecstasy consumer called Chloe: “The drug’s stimulation gave her a boost of confidence, a sense of well-being and a feeling of closeness to the strangers surrounding her. Once those feelings kicked in, Chloe knew the “love drug” was in full effect. If we could see Chloe’s brain, we would see huge amounts of a neurochemical known as serotonin surging.” Ecstasy was a massive part of the 90s rave scene, when the UK was a breeding ground for new and exciting indie music. It was a right of passage, the ability to take a drug and feel connected to each other. Full of love and not hate. But there’s no surprise really that people started experimenting with consuming cannabis in a variety of ways. The come up on ecstasy is not always an easy experience. Some find it so intense that they vomit, with a rising sensation in their stomach being too much to handle. This is why some prefer to put it in their drinks, in order to try and give their digestive system a bit of a break. But what if there was a way to bypass that part of the body completely? Well, that’s where shelving comes in. Hey, thank you for making it over. We’ve got options, pick well! How Shelving is DoneThere isn’t really a ‘normal’ way of shelving, probably because not a lot of people speak about it. But, to be honest, It isn’t rocket science. Plugging or shelving usually works by taking an ecstasy pill and sticking it up the rectum. This isn’t usually a comfortable affair and it’s this discomfort that often sways people away from it entirely. You’ll want to try and ensure there are no blockages, if you understand the meaning. Making sure you’ve done your business prior to shelving is definitely a must. Then, you can begin the procedure. Once the ecstasy pill is stuck far enough in, it can sit on the shelf of the rectum and slowly disintegrate. There is a high level of blood cells in this area of the body, meaning that the drug will be consumed much quicker than through the digestive system. It also means you bypass any discomfort with the stomach and the feelings as you come up. After around 10 minutes, you should start to feel the effects. Why Do It?There are several reasons why people might choose to use drugs by rectal administration – to sound scientific for a second. Here are some possible explanations: 1 – Quick effectsShelving your drugs allows them to be absorbed directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. This can result in a more intense and rapid onset of effects compared to oral ingestion. For example, people who use ecstasy (MDMA) by rectal administration may experience the effects within 5-10 minutes, while those who swallow the drug may not feel the effects for 30-45 minutes. This is perfect for those who dread the random and sporadic come up, and want it over and done with. Once that’s done, they can enjoy the feelings of ecstasy. 2 – Avoiding the digestive systemNot only can the involvement of the digestive system cause nausea, but some drugs can be destroyed or metabolised by the liver and digestive system before they reach the bloodstream. By bypassing this process, shelving can allow more of the drug to reach the brain and produce effects. 3 – SecurityAnother great reason to shelve is to avoid detection from bouncers or security. Staff are getting increasingly better at knowing where people hide their drugs – wallets, socks, bras. But there’s always one place they’ll never look. Unless of course you’re at an airport or a police station, strip searching is still a possibility there. ProblemsWhilst it’s all fun and games, you can’t speak about shelving substances without discussing the issues too. It’s important to note that rectal administration of drugs carries its own set of risks and drawbacks. Here’s a list of a few: DamageOne potential issue is the risk of damage to the rectal tissue. The rectum is a sensitive area that can be easily damaged by the insertion of foreign objects. This can lead to bleeding, infections, and other complications. You want to look after your bum. How![]() Another concern is the lack of standardisation when it comes to rectal drug administration. There is no established “correct” way to do it, and different people may have different techniques and preferences. This can make it difficult to predict the dose and strength of the drug being used, which can increase the risk of overdose or negative effects. It also isn’t an activity that someone will likely ask for help with, meaning it’s probably a solo affair, which increases the chances of mistakes. IllnessIn addition, there is a risk of contamination when drugs are introduced into the rectum. The rectum is home to a variety of bacteria, and introducing drugs into this environment can allow them to come into contact with these microorganisms. This can potentially lead to infections or other complications. The bum is used constantly for evolutionary purposes, so you don’t want it being damaged and adding pain to your everyday life. Again, you gotta look after your rectum. ConclusionShelving is another beautiful addition to modern society. Whether you’re fond of it or not, it is definitely an ambitious activity. People may choose to use drugs by rectal administration for a variety of reasons, including the rapid onset of effects, the ability to bypass the digestive system, and the potential for avoiding detection. However, it’s important to be aware that this method of drug use carries its own set of issues. The rectum is a fragile place and must be treated with respect and love. If you’re wanting to give shelving a go, make sure you’re doing it in a clean and safe environment. It can be both the best and worst thing, depending on creating the right atmosphere. Good luck. The post Why is Everyone ‘Shelving’ their Drugs? appeared first on Cannadelics. Via https://cannadelics.com/2023/01/25/why-is-everyone-shelving-their-drugs/ Every year we see different cannabinoids rising and becoming a top-selling product. Sometimes we can predict it in advance, like we do this year, where we believe it is going to be Amanita Mushroom gummies, as they are the only legal psychedelic mushrooms availabe today. Sometimes it is hard to predict. Last year it was the turn of HHC and Alt-Cannabinoid products to become a major seller, with products such as HHC carts, HHC gummies, high-potency THC-P and HHC-P blends, THC-B, THC-H etc. Another major product was good-old Delta-9 THC, which was sold everywhere, as it is hemp-derived, so it follows the known Delta-8 loophole. As a result, semi-legal Delta-9 THC products became available all over the US, including states where cannabis isn’t allowed. But today we want to look into HHC, as we have one of the best ‘Deals Of The Day’ ever: HHC carts and HHC gummies for only $7.5. An amazing price for one of last year’s top-selling product!
